Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This website, mattmarcus.co (the “Site”), is operated by Matthew Marcus, a licensed real estate agent affiliated with Compass RE in Nashville, Tennessee (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form, request a consultation, ask about a property, download a guide, or sign up for updates, we collect what you enter — typically your name, email address, phone number, your message, and details you choose to share such as the type of home you are looking for, your timeline, or the address of a home you own.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to collect information about your device and how you use the Site: IP address and approximate location, browser and device type, the pages you view, the links you click, the site that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits. The Site currently uses the following measurement and advertising tools: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, Meta (Facebook) Pixel, the Compass pixel, Ahrefs Web Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors move through pages (scrolling, clicks and session replays) with text you type masked. It also uses Elfsight widgets to display client reviews from Google, Zillow and Realtor.com, an Instagram feed, videos hosted on YouTube, a mortgage payment calculator, project photos and an office map; these load content and scripts from Elfsight, Google (including Google Maps and YouTube) and Instagram. If you use the calculator’s contact form, the information you enter is collected through Elfsight and sent to us. The “Book a call” scheduler and the “Let’s talk” button that appears on every page are provided by Calendly; they load from Calendly’s servers, and when you book, the name, email address and any notes you enter are collected by Calendly and shared with us. Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing the data it receives.

Information from other sources. If you contact us through a third-party service (for example a scheduling tool, a social network, or a listing portal), we receive the information that service passes to us.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide the real estate services you ask for.
  • To send you information you requested, such as listings, guides, market updates or newsletters, and to send marketing about our services where permitted by law. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • If you give us your mobile number and opt in, to text you about your inquiry. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out.
  • To operate, secure and improve the Site, understand how it is used, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
  • To comply with legal, licensing and record-keeping obligations that apply to real estate brokerage.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • With Compass, the brokerage we are affiliated with, and its systems, as needed to provide brokerage services and meet licensing requirements.
  • With service providers who work on our behalf — website hosting, email delivery, customer relationship management, scheduling, analytics and advertising platforms — under agreements that limit their use of the information.
  • With other parties to a transaction (for example a cooperating agent, lender, title company or inspector) when you ask us to represent you and the sharing is needed to complete your transaction.
  • When required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Matthew Marcus, Compass, our clients or others.
  • In connection with a business transfer, if our practice or its assets are transferred to another party.

Cookies and your choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect parts of the Site. To limit interest-based advertising, you can use Google’s Ads Settings and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and Meta’s ad preferences within your Facebook or Instagram account. The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Your rights and requests

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you marketing, by emailing Matt.Marcus@compass.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights; we will honor those rights as they apply to us.

Data retention and security

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by real estate licensing and record-keeping rules, then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information, but no website or transmission is completely secure.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Third-party links

The Site links to other websites, including Compass property search, scheduling tools and social networks. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed; material changes will be posted on this page.
